Upon entering his office in Lehr Arena after his team had just dismantled Hot Springs on Saturday night, Blue Devil head coach Marcus Brown uttered what was probably on every fan's mind.

"They wanted some of us, and they got some," said Brown.

The Blue Devils improved to 3-0 on the season with a 68-46 victory over the Trojans.

After the visitors threatened to run West Memphis out of its own building by running out to a 13-0 lead, the Blue Devils outscored Hot Springs 68-33 the rest of the way.

"I am very very happy and impressed with the way our kids responded to getting down so early in the game," said Brown. "We just seem to get off to slow starts. I guess I'll have to change some things up."

After getting the recruiting dilemma out of the way, new Auburn signee Chris Moore has been his old dominating self. After his 22-point, 22-rebound game against Lake Hamilton, Moore has averaged 23.5 points and 19 rebounds a game.

Moore was a beast on both ends of the floor. Besides his 3 blocks and 4 assists, the 6-foot-7 forward impacted the game outside the stat sheet, where his presence in the paint altered numerous Trojan shots and forced several more turnovers.

"When all else fails, we have the big fella underneath," Brown said, referring to Moore. "He was great."

Six minutes into the game, the Blue Devils had 6 turnovers and zero points, while Trojan guards Caleb Campbell and Jadyn Walker were lighting it up from outside, helping their team build a 13-0 lead out of the gates.

Brown said he tried to keep his team calm.

"I just tried to let them play through it at first before I finally called a timeout," said Brown. "I tried to be as calm as possible in the huddle. I told them they'd worked too hard. You're parents are in the stands, the school is here, just go and play ball and have fun."

It certainly was fun after that.

The drought was broken by an Akyrahn Hazley 10-foot jumper to finally put the home team on the board with 1:42 to play in the first quarter.

Although the Blue Devils trailed 15-6 after the first quarter, they quickly flipped the game in the second quarter, jetting out to a 14-0 run to start the stanza.

Still trailing 24-20 with 2:23 to play before halftime, Moore gave his team the momentum at intermission with three straight baskets, with two of them coming on thunderous dunks to ignite the crowd.

West Memphis led 28-26 at the break.

Brown's first-ever Blue Devil team two years ago was characterized as an explosive third-quarter team.

On Saturday night, the detonation happened again.

West Memphis outscored Hot Springs 17-2 in the third quarter with senior guard Immanuel Hoard, who plays starter minutes, but who comes off the bench, swished two big three-pointers.

"Immanuel has the green light," said Brown. "He just has to make up his mind if he wants to play. I can't say it any plainer than that. He can score in bunches."

Hoard finished with a season-high 14 points.

From there, it was all West Memphis.

Moore scored the team's first seven points of the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils build a 66-41 lead with 1:48 to play before Brown emptied his bench.

"It was a great night for the home team," Brown said. "I liked the way we played defense and I loved the ball movement on offense in the second half."

Also scoring in double figures for the Blue Devils was Hazley, who hit 11. Senior reserve guard Deon Williams, who is making a bid to start, had two three-pointers and 7 points while junior point guard Jordan Mitchell hit 5.

Jaylon Lewis and Kylan Sykes hit for 4 and 3 points respectively.

Hot Springs got 21 points from Campbell while Walker hit for 13.
